/dev/disk/by-uuid/<uuid here> does not exist and initramfs shell

Hi,

After compiling the new kernel, it is not booting and prompting me to initramfs shell (/dev/disk/by-uuid/blah-blah does not exist).
Blkid and fstab are the same, grub entries are the same (except for kernel numbers).

I've tried update-initramfs, deleting and creating initrd, reinstalling grub, initramfs-tools, still nothing.

System - Debian, upstream kernel 3.18.19

Thanks for any help,

Mitt

Then please post
1. /etc/fstab
2. /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
3. the kernels under /boot
