Compiling kernel for Centos 6.4 i386


Hello All,

I want to compile kernel from source in such a way that it can work on Centos6.4 i386, can any one suggest me?

There are i386 ISOs available on the mirrors that you can download. However, your question may need some clarification. Are you asking about 6.4 that will run on an an actual i386?

I have downloaded kernel-2.6.39.4 source. now I want to compile it for Centos 6.4

My Questions are...
1) which platform should I use to compile the kernel?
2) How to compile kernel for centos 6.4?
3) How to created RPM of the compiled kernel?

You can compile a 32 bit kernel on a 64 bit OS by just setting the -m32 flag.

Here is CentOS specific information that will help but there is much more information that can be found by searching the web.
