command line install to SCSI drives
 

Hi guys,

I'm trying to install Mandriva 10.0.

I boot up using an IDE CD drive, I then load the DOS Adaptec SCSI drives for the SCSI CD drive, I can then get to the Mandriva disc using DOS commands.

Now, how do I start the Mandriva install process, and from which directory?

Why not just boot the install CD from the IDE CD drive? What is the model number of the SCSI controller? You also should be able to configure the SCSI controller to boot from CDROM.

If I remember correctly the 1st CD had problems and wasn't bootable. The workaround was to boot from the 2nd install CD.

Thank you for responding, It's been years since I worked with SCSI so after a bit of thinking and looking :study: I realized that the SCSI CDROM was on an adapter card instead of being plugged into the mainboard, which is why the BIOS wasn't seeing the drive.

For some reason Mandriva is insisting on installing from the SCSI CDROM instead of the IDE. I don't know/couldn't find parameters to give to the Kernal.

I bought SCSI pin adapters so I could plug the SCSI CDROM into the mainboard and now Mandriva sees the SCSI CDROM as a "Floppy?"

SO I boot up with the IDE then switch the disc to the SCSI and everything seems to be fine.
