CentOS 5.2 hanging at satrtup

Dears,,

I have a problem with CentOS 5.2. At startup OS get hanging. It showing Press I to enter Interactive startup. I pressed "i", but not getting anything. cursor blinking in black screen. Please help me to solve this problem

So, after press 'i', the screen turns black with a blinking cursor?

Here's what I would do:

As the machine powers up, hold down the ESC key. The grub menu should pop up. hit 'e'. on the kernel line append '/bin/bash'.

Hit CTRL + x.

Wait! Whe asked, enter the root password, and perform the two commands:

$ ldconfig && depmod

Then:

$ init 5

Thank you for your reply. Am not an expert in Linux, please clarify my simple doubt.

Where i have to add '/bin/bash'? after "<logVol00 rhgb qiet" in kernel ?
