@bsat

I created the .config file through defconfig
Then I opened .config file and
enabled following
CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER=y
CONFIG_KGDB=y
CONFIG_KGDB_SERIAL_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_KGDB_KDB=y
CONFIG_KDB_KEYBOARD=y

And I am using fedora 14 on which I am trying to built kernel 2.6.38

one more thing I am using a virtual machine vmware and this virtual machine is running on windows os.

Not sure but seems like compilations of these modules has been missed. May be you can check your .config and see if these are enabled.
