Booting and Installing Linux Problems

Hello everybody,
I am trying to install ROSA R10 LXQT Linux on my lenovo thinkpad x130e but it always fails.

every type of linux I try to install fails as there is no dvd drive so I am forced to install by usb, but it boots off the usb then says it fails to recognise a boot device.

How can I resolve the issue?

Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to supply error information, the point in the install where things go wrong. We can not help unless you better explain what the problems are.

Is this Thinkpad a BIOS machine, or is it UEFI? Once again, we can not help without details.

Installing from a USB will work with most distros. How did you create the USB stick? Please give the details.

have you tried Slackware, or a distro that has the USB Stick as a source selection during install?

Okay, so I used rufus freeware to put the ISO images onto the USB.
Then I modified the BIOS to boot from USB.
The laptop then successfully boots from USB, I select install.
For debian, it just says that the boot disc cannot be found.
For ROSA it says that the kernel can't load, among other stuff.

My guess is that you have a uefi, not a bios, and that you forgot to turn off the infamous secure boot. Try turning it off and then installing.
