boot problems

hallo, every body!!!
i´ve doawnload the last kernel, from our funy site...
heve him sucesfull unpacket and compiled
now i´ve boot probles whit this kernel...

[7.236000]VFS:Cnnot open root device "806" or unknow-block(8,6)
""""""""" Please append a correct "root"=boot option
""""""""" kernel panic-not syncing:VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknow block (8,6)

in my simples understanding, i reduce that it is a problem of the config ossf the boot loader...I think????

this is my lilo.conf...!!!

Your kernel seems to boot properly. It is however not able to mount your root file system. Most likely, you compiled the hard disk driver or the file system driver as modules. Since the kernel cannot mount the root file system, it cannot load the modules. It however needs to load the modules to mount the root file system.

Please verfiy your kernel configuration ( make menuconfig) and make sure that your hard disk driver as well as the file system driver are compiled hard into the kernel (not as modules). Both of them need to be marked with an asterisk in the kernel configuration.

Hope this helps

Just looking at your posting once more, I realized that your new kernel is probably the vmlinuz-2.6.19-test kernel.

I suggest to edit the lilo.conf:
label=habsuerte
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.19-test
initrd = /boot/initrd
root = /dev/sda6

Cheers
Tilman
