Block device driver for SDcard

Hi guys,

I have written character drivers in my past,presently I was asked to develop a block driver for SDCARD.

I have oreilly book for fundamentals in block driver. I want to know how to write driver which can
1.Format my card
2.Make partitions on flash disk
3.How to include filesystems on to it

I have source code with me for floppy driver,but i dont know how to start
Any book suggestions,Please provide online links
