hi all,
I've just received a very singolar error message:

Problem in usplash

The problem cannot be reported
:

The crash happened in the firmware of the computer ("BIOS"), which cannot be influenced by the operating system.

is there anyone could explain what should be happened to my PC?
I'm a Ubuntu 8.10 user, now I'm testing the very updated last Intrepid beta release.
my kernel is: 2.6.27-6-generic
and my Gnome version is 2.24.0

You can try removing the CMOS battery that holds the data for your BIOS. Give it a minute and then re-install the battery. You would have to re-initialize your options of course.

sorry, because of my little experience, I don't know if there are any way to know what kind of board and bios, with Ubuntu. Are there any "admin"applications to check for those details? or I need to enter into the BIOS to find the version I'm using, and open the desktop case, to look at what type of motherboard I'm using?

thanks

From terminal type
Code:
dmidecode
It will tell you everything your BIOS knows about including your board.

Go here for a more in depth explanation:
