about kernel 3.0

hello,

i've been thinking when is the 3.0-rc kernel version going to become stable?

can anybody estimate when the next major release will happen?

it's only rc3, guessing by the small number, probably quite a while

well the question is how long approximately ? a year ? 2 years ?

and btw how many release candidates are usually dished out before the stable release , in other words what's the highest rc number before the final release ?

that would be up to the development team to deem it ready to be called a final release, it could be the next release, it could be 10 revisions from now, I don't believe there is a 'maximum' rc number, it's just a matter of when the dev team decides the software is ready.
