2.6.27 kernel problem with HDA NVidia Realtek ALC888

Hello,

after I compiled 2.6.27 (from 2.6.26) the input-line to the soundcard wount work. So, I can't use my microphone, which I need to use.

The soundcard is a HDA NVidia, with Realtek ALC888 chipset.

Playing music works fine. I'm using ALSA.

I really hope anyone can help me out.

Thanks.

It's hard to believe this isn't an alsa configuration problem. Are you sure you have the microphone enabled and the microphone volume above zero in the "Recording" section of the GUI? You may also need to set "Options"->"Input Source" to Microphone.

Yes, I'm sure I have the microphone enabled and the volume above zero. I'm using alsamixer. And, well... The settings works fine with 2.6.26. Seems very strange to me.

Guess I can't help then. I'm using 2.6.27.3 with snd-hda-intel and it works fine.

According to http://lwn.net/Articles/306489/ it's a bug, and it's fixed in 2.6.28-rc4, as stated below:

ALSA: hda - Disable broken mic auto-muting in Realtek codes

That explains a lot. :)
