lm-sensors is there, and I checked it first thingafter reboot, when I had an 8-9º overhead. The fan speeds up to 'noisier' at 82º, and to 'noisiest' at 86º. Given these thresholds, I wasn't thinking temperatures. I tried to cook it and failed, as you can see from posts below. Mind you, the trick in overheating seems to be to constantly resize a window. I'm fed up with this box anyhow, and I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual.

BTW, I only got the CDs in after I finished the full hour extra on Zoom, so while your logic was flawless, my information was poor.
