Zoltrix TV card -- not sure how to use

Hello. I have a Zoltrix TV card (VP - 8790 Rev 2.3), and I'm not sure if there's anything I can do with it. What I'd like to do is connect a dvd player, which plays CD-G files, that I have to it and record the CD-G (aka karaoke) files to my hard disk from a dvd that I have (my dvd-rom does not read this disk). I connected them via a yellow video cord (and connected the sound via a red and white cord to the soundcard line-in plug, and this works since I can hear the sound -- but anyway I've already got the sound files, I just need to get the video), but I haven't got any results with the video. I tried tvtime, but couldn't figure it out (and I don't think this would be the right software anyway.)

So, if anyone has any suggestions (or, which is likely, needs clarification of what I'm trying to describe), then just reply.

Another problem: I can't seem to get my system to find the Zoltrix TV card. I think bttv should recognise it, but for some reason, I don't think my system has found it. When I try to run xawtv, I get the following:
Code:
mark@debian:~$ xawtv
This is xawtv-3.95.dfsg.1, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.26-1-686)
can't open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
no video grabber device available
mark@debian:~$
Anyone know how I can get it recognised by my system? And then, anyone know how I can solve the issue as described in my first post?

Okay, I got my system to find my TV card by placing it in a different pci slot. So, both xawtv and tvtime can now display the karaoke images from the aforementioned cdg disk via the dvd player that I described in the first post (using "Video Source: Composite1" in xawtv). However, I cannot figure out how to record these movie files. xawtv gives the option "Record Movie (avi)" but when I try this, I get nothing. Any idea how to do this?

Hmm. I did a search, and found pretty well the exact same question on linuxquestions at "Recording Video with Xawtv". Of course, as unfortunately is often the case with linuxquestions, the actual questions are ignored, and instead they are mysteriously answered with either vagueness and/or simply not answered completely. For instance,

This was answered with "just change the tv options". Of course, what exactly the user was supposed to change them to was never referred to. Other than that, perhaps because my intelligence is rather average, I could not glean an answer from the thread to my issues.
