now, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and when it installs itself it already gives an error.

what does this mean?

Code:
ATI module generator V 2.0

they are versioned as "2.4.20-4GB"

you might need to adjust your symlinks:
- /usr/include
- /usr/src/linux
Thx!

I'm not sure I am going to be able to help you with this.

I'm running Slackware 9 myself, which means XFree 4.3.0 and Kernel 2.4.20. I also have a Radeon 9700 Pro and I am using the same FireGL drivers as you. It took me ages to get 3D acceleration working but it's great now. There are also quite a few other people who have had success with similar configurations. If you do a search in these forums you'll find many threads about this.

Your problem is different though. It appears that your kernel source doesn't match the kernel you're actually running.

What does "uname -r" say about that?

Here's what I would try if I was you:

Get rid of the kernel source that is currently installed on your machine. Download the kernel source that exactly matches the kernel you are running and install it again. I'm sure SuSE has rpm's available to make it easy. Try the ATI drivers again.

You could of course try to actually fix this version mismatch problem instead but I don't fully understand the actual problem itself so I can't really offer any concrete suggestions.

Have a good read through the readme that comes with ATI's drivers. There is actually some really helpful information in there that you should find relevant.

Try to have fun, and let us know
