Yes, I am having the dreaded (and, seemingly rather commomon) "My soundcard is installed but I have no sound output" issue. Linux (Suse 9.1 Pro) has discovered the hardware (prodigy 7.1) Alsaconf has configured it and nothing "seems" to be muted-yet I have no sound output. Here's my hardware line up:
Mobo: MSI K8T Neo FIS-2R
CPU: Amd Athlon 64 3000+ (754)
Suse 9.1 Pro 64 bit
1GB Corsair XMS 3200 (2x512)
Radeon 9800 Pro (thankfully no driver issues!)
Seagate SATA 120GB HD
Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 soundcard
(The soundcard is connected via spdif coax to a Rotel RSX 965 Receiver)
Ok, so the driver is installed, Alsaconf "says" everything is rosy, but I didn't hear the test tone. I am stumped. STUMPED! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Yup it is all the down. The only one up is the Master. Some of them I can't adjust the volume (including the IEC958 column): I can only mute and un mute the IEC958 and on some I can't do that. is this normal?
I had to reinstall Suse because I messed up something (What I haven't quite figured out yet).
So upon reinstall it detects a generic version of the prodigy (ice-1724) and then says this:
"The kernel module snd-ice1724 for sound support
could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters."
Being that I changed nothing hardware wise between installs, what the hell does this mean and what do I do fix it?
