Xsane fails to start

Hi folks,

Fedora7
Epson Perfection 3490 Photo

Xsane fails to start. Driver can be found.

On console;

$ xsane
Code:
[snapscan] Cannot open firmware file /usr/share/sane/snapscan/your-firmwarefile.bin.
[snapscan] Edit the firmware file entry in snapscan.conf.

Please advise where can I find the firmware file. TIA

Have you got these installed : libsane, sane, sane-utils, xsane, xsane-common.
Check you have all of them.
Then check if you have the rights to use it, if you belong to the scanner group. I could only start my Canon LIDE 40 by doing this.
Hopes it helps

Hi samael26,

Thanks for your advice.

$ yum search libsane | grep libsane
Code:
libsane-hpaio.x86_64                     1.7.4a-4.fc7           installed
It is there but I suppose for HP NOT for Epson.

$ yum search sane | grep sane
Code:
sane-backends.x86_64                     1.0.18-15.fc7          installed
xsane-gimp.x86_64                        0.994-3.fc7            installed
sane-backends-libs.x86_64                1.0.18-15.fc7          installed
sane-backends-libs.i386                  1.0.18-15.fc7          installed
xsane.x86_64                             0.994-3.fc7            installed
libsane-hpaio.x86_64                     1.7.4a-4.fc7           installed
They have been installed.

Sorry I don't follow. Please explain in detail how to check it. TIA
