Xorg hangs after install of ATI fglrx drivers

I just upgraded my system to OpenSuSE 10.3, to play around with KDE4(it was hanging when I tried on 10.2), well I went to set up my fglrx drivers and Xorg now hangs whenever I use the aticonfig to set up the drivers. I found a long involved way a while back to get the drivers working with 10.2 but had no luck with that either.

My current setup is:
Xorg 7.2
OpenSuSE 10.3 64bit
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
ATI drivers 8.452

My Xorg log has no (EE) in it, but does have the following warnings:
(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found
but then continues on.

I've had problems with this before, but never this bad. Don't know if anyone else has been in the same boat and knows how to fix it. I've tried everything on SuSE's site and none of that seemed to work either.

If anyone knows how to get XGL working without the proprietary drivers as an alternative, I would gladly switch over. Can't wait until I get the money to grab a cheap NVIDIA card throw in the machine, thankfully my main system already has a NVIDIA card in it.

Edit: Well been messing with it again for a little and am now getting (WW) Open ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) (Connection refused), when I get back to KDE on the box using sax2-vesa, I'll post the xorg.conf

This seems to be a step-by-step guide for setting up ATI drivers: http://linux.wordpress.com/2007/11/2...aiglx-support/
