XMdia GeForce 6500 128mb PCI-E not working in gentoo

Hi!

I have an XMdia GeForce 6500 128mb PCI-E graphics card. I installed nvidia-glx because xmdia uses nvidia's drivers. I configured it just like the gentoo nVidia tutorial says but when I start x it says:

(EE)NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize NVIDIA kernel module!
(EE)NVIDIA(0): ***Aborting***
(EE)Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

Fatal Server Error:
no screens found

What is wrong here? I have agpgart compiled into my kernel.

dmesg | grep "agpgart":
Linux agpgart interface v0.101 (c) Dave Jones

cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version:
NVRM version: NVIDIA Linux x86_64 NVIDIA kernel module 1.0-6629 Wed Nov 3 11:43:48 PST 2004
GCC Version: gcc version 3.4.4 (Gentoo 3.4.4-r1, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7.8)

Also, when using x with my old configuration file(before i emerged nvidia-glx), I get a warning:
Symbol __glXgetActiveScreen from module /usr/lib64/modules/extensions/libdri.a is unresolved
Symbol __glXgetActiveScreen from module /usr/lib64/modules/extensions/libdri.a is unresolved
(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (NVIDIA X Driver not found)

also, there are no /dev/nvidia* device files. After following a tutorial to get this to work, when I started X, my computer restarts.

Thanks.
