Xerox phaser 6100

I am running fedora core 4 (2.6.12-1.1398_FC4).
I was trying to make my Xerox phaser 6100 printer work , but my greatest achievement so far was making the printer beep some strange sounds... I had on the CD that I got with the printer an installation for linux , which installed some tool called Linux LPR which allows configuring some printer options, but still I can't print anything...

Do you have any idea where can I find any information about using this printer under fedora core 4?

thanks in advance ,
