Xandros+SB Audigy=No Sound

Hi,
I have a clean Express install of Xandros Desktop Version2.0.1 (KDE 3.1.4)with Kernel 2.4.24 xl
I have installed nothing other than the gcc 2.95 compiler. (I had thought to install kernel 2.6, but having read the readme it may be a little beyond me)
Sound Blaster Audigy SB0090 (SB1394 also written on Board)
There is no sound.
Onboard sound has been disabled in BIOS

Q1) BIOS Menu>Advanced>I/O Device Config>Onboard Peripheral Resource Control>Onboard AC97 Audio Controller=Disabled. Does this equate to onboard Sound being disabled or is there something else I should look for?

Control Center>Hardware>Sound;
[audio.1]
desc-CM18738 PCI Audio
driver-cmpc
manu-C-Media Electronics Inc.
pci=0x1 3f6, 0x111, 0x28

[audio.2]
manu-creative Labs
pci-0x1102, 0x4, 0x70
[boot.main]

Control Center>Sound System;
Start aRts on kde startup is checked
Sound I/O method is set to Autodetect.

It seems that the onboard sound is the default. If that is so why should that be given the onboard sound has (presumably) been disabled?

On a previous install I had installed 'ALSA' but this made no difference. When I run 'alsamixer' I got Card: C-Media PCI CMI8738-MC6 Chip: CMedia PCI and then the volume controls.
Any clues Thanks for you time.

Regards Ron

Hi,
in addition when I run 'kmix' I get this;
Kiwi:/home/ron# kmix
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
kbuildsycoca running...
When I run 'Kiwi:/home/ron# lsmod | grep emu10k1' Nothing happens

And with this command;

Kiwi:/home/ron# modprobe emu10k1
/lib/modules/2.4.24-x1/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: init_module: No
such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including inva lid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.24-x1/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: insmod /lib/modul es/2.4.24-x1/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.24-x1/kernel/drivers/sound/emu10k1/emu10k1.o: insmod emu10k1 failed
Hope this helps
Regards Ron
