X won't start cuz mouse not working!

Ok, I have recompiled Kernel 2.5.75. X won't start because of some kind of mouse error. GPM reports that /dev/mouse doesn't exist... but during boot the kernel find a Synaptics Touchpad, although it says that the touchpad reset fails (three times)...

It does say that the touchpad is located at isa0600/serio1. However, I tried putting that in XF86Config and that didn't work either...

I have compiled with all of the PS/2, Bus Mouse, etc settings I could find... but nothing is working....

Any ideas??

Thanks... If it helps, I will post the dmesg output...

Tell X to ignore it...

In one of the X config files (/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 on my system), under the ServerFlags section, insert or uncomment the AllowMouseOpenFail option, then X will start without a mouse. Here's the ServerFlags section from my config file:

Code:
Section "ServerFlags"
    #DontZap # disable <Crtl><Alt><BS> (server abort)
    #DontZoom # disable <Crtl><Alt><KP_+>/<KP_-> (resolution switching)
    AllowMouseOpenFail # allows the server to start up even if the mouse doesn't work
EndSection
