X Server broken. start w/ "INIT: ld "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes&q

I've killed my X and don't know how. Fedora boots, but before any graphics come up, I get the following warning:

INIT: ld "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
(the warning repeats every 5 minutes)

Control+C gets me to a text login and I can log in and tweak stuff but am not sure exactly what I should be looking for. When i type in "X," it seems to start, but all I get is a blank screen w/ an "X" for the mouse cursor. Control+Alt+F1 gets me back to the command line w/ the following warning trailing:

(WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found

I've tried to add "BusID PCI:1:0:1" to the Device section of /etc/X11/XF86Config but then the warning turns into:

(WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:0) found

Fatal server error:
no screens found

When I type in "xinit," I get the following error:

XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0:0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

I am at a complete loss.. Needless to say, any help whatsoever would be immensely appreciated.

Thanx :newbie:

im haveing the exact same problem, i gave some guy my XFree86.0.log file, and im hoping he can get it working, if he does you should check the thread its on its search throug my name or search for respawning to fast, because i put that in it, i hope people can help, cuz its really annoying, and it has happened to me twice, the last time i had to completely reinstal linux to get it to work, ive been using windows for the last month and im afraid that i wont be able to get my linux functioning again without losing all my stuff

i just went through a 2 day extravaganza of moving everything in my home folder to my ipod, reinstalling fedora, upgrading fedora (and kernel) and am now in the process of restoring all of my preferences. needless to say, i am pissed. i believe my mistake was in trying to install the new gtk 2.4 suite (glib, pango, atk, gtk) from source. i think i totally screwed some libraries during that process. i am (successfully) using the exact same XF86Config file now, so i've come to the conclusion that nothing in there was amiss.

i'm fairly certain that my libraries were royally fuct because i kept getting weird errors when trying to reinstall older versions of pango and gtk via apt.

i know that this is not what anyone wants to hear when faced w/ this problem, and i'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but i could only solve this by starting from scratch... then again, i was extremely impatient because my only other functional computer is aneurism-inducingly slow. it may be worth it to do a little more research because doing what i just did really sucks.

Fatal error: 104 X Server error

Hello all, I have the same probelm.but now only i cleared that one......

The problem is your X Font Server has failed to start or has died, as
indicated by the fact that the X server can't connect to the XFS socket.

Try '/etc/init.d/xfs restart' or, preferably, 'service xfs restart' and
then try to restart X.

ok try this .....I think u got best result
