Question X applications don't run on Mandrake 9.1 with Sis 300 card

I am using Mandrake 9.1 with Sis 300 video card & Samsung monitor.

In X windows 70 to 80% applications don't run.
For e.g : kate,ktron,clanbomber,open-office,g-edit etc.

I do not get any error message.

A blank application window pops up and then closes immediately.

I tried to un-install & re-install the applications in vein.

Please help me!

You're probably missing an integral library.
Start one of these applications from a terminal within X and see what errors it spits out.
