Unhappy Workstation Vs Server

Hello
i am facing a very interesting problem. I have one IBM workstation "IntelliStation Z Pro" with 2 GB RAM and a Xeon processor. The Linux OS is RHEL5. I have another system ---- a IBM server "system X3400" with 2GB RAM and Xeon processor. The linux OS here is Debian 4.0
When i check the system monitor of both the system the workstation shows single CPU whereas the server shows 4 CPU. why????????????

again a fortran programme i ran in both machine and the output came faster in the workstation. Is it possible?

Is there any other way to compile programme in server other than writing f77 in command line? am i missing something? Is workstation is more powerfull and faster than a server?

please explain me

Hi there,

I don't know if anyone can enlighten you and me, with a more complete answer. I believe that your workstation will be faster for the simple reason that there is fewer process running in the background. In a server, there might alot of process running that we don't know of, which take some of the calculation power.

I hope it helps you. Like I said, if someone has a better, more complete answer, I would be interested to know also.
