wont go into login screen

Hi,

I use SuSe 8.0 and whenever I install Linux I can't get to the Login screen (you know the gui screen with the login dialog). Whenever I boot Linux, it just goes to this console. I think it has something to do with my cheap video card, its a Pro Savage DDR. It recognized my card, but strangely I can't use the graphical interface option (my guess). Can anyone please help. I dont want to buy a new $100 video card. Maybee I need drivers?

wadda ya mean cant use graphical interface?
like it doesnt start when you type startx , or what?

p.s. usually cheap vid cards work, too.

When linux starts up the screen changes (video flips) like 10 times and then nothing happens. Haven't tired startx but I'll give it a try now.

i tried startx and I got a "no screen found" error. do I need to upgrade some drivers or something? how would I do that?
