Wise Tiger USB Adapter can't reach Kali Linux
I bought a Wise Tiger USB Adapter, knowing that it works with Linux, I installed it, but when I launch my Kali VirtualBox, I don't see it at all on Ifconfig. It only shows me "eth0" and "lo" When I turn on my Virtual Machine, the USB Adapter disappears from my list of Network Connections on my Windows host machine. When I stop the machine, it pops back up and it isn't connected to the Internet, so I have to connect it again. Why is it not showing up on "ifconfig" I need help with this please!

The USB device is either connected to the host or the guest but not both at the same time.
Did you install the extension pack?
Connect the adapter to the guest using the devices pull down menu at the top of the VirtualBox window.

According to your description, Virtualbox recognizes the device. Check if it makes it available to the guest. If that is so, there are tools like the kernel message buffer or lsusb that allow you to see at a low level if the guest recognizes the interface.
You say it works with Linux, but are you certain your kernel includes a driver that can deal with this device?

What?
I'm having difficulty trying to figure out what to do. I'm sorry, but can you explain it a little better?

In the VirtualBox guest pulldown window Devices->USB-> there should be a line for your device and if it is connected to the guest a check mark. If not click on the device.
The device should be displayed in the output of the lsusb command.
If the device is not recognized in the output of the ifconfig command then look at the output of the dmesg command. If it is not recognized as a wireless device then you will need to install the driver.

As a side remark: In this case, you should study Linux (and, in your particular case, Virtualbox) before using Kali. Both michaelk's and my explanations are not hard to understand for somebody with intermediate Linux skills.
From the documentation:
Quote:
it is NOT a recommended distribution if you’re unfamiliar with Linux
...
Even for experienced Linux users, Kali can pose some challenges.
...
If you are unfamiliar with Linux generally, if you do not have at least a basic level of competence in administering a system,(...) Kali Linux is probably not what you are looking for..
|
You will continue to run into problems that you can only solve with a certain level of Linux skill.
