Wireless router

Perhaps this isn't the best subforum to post this in, but here it goes.
I'm planning to buy a Wireless router for my place; but which one works well with Linux-which has good linux firmware? Any ideas or experiences? I heard Asus wl-500g deluxe is good, but I haven't found how good it is with linux. It won't be some massive router station, but just for me, so I can move my laptop freely across the flat.

Should not matter which brand of wireless router is used, yes true some are better built and designed. Some (a few) do not truly follow the international standards but for the most part 99% work just fine. To be on the safe side it is a good idea to add the wireless routers internal IP address as the GATEWAY= line in the your Linux wireless configuration file, examples in part;

Static IP:

BOOTPROTO=
IPADDR=192.168.0.35
GATEWAY=192.168.0.1
NETMASK=255.255.255.0

DHCP assigned IP address:
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
#IPADDR=192.168.0.35
GATEWAY=192.168.0.1
NETMASK=255.255.255.0

See the OpenWRT site for routers which can be flashed with an enhanced linux firmware. If you go that way you should also look at X-WRT for some nice enhancements.

I have used an Asus wl-500g Premium and it works fine. It's nice to have the USB ports on there for attaching an HD or even a webcam, both of which work with the stock firmware.

The Linksys WRT54G is also a popular choice. The current standard version does not run linux, but there is a 'GL' version which does. Interface is a bit more polished than the Asus, but not as many features (at least in the versions I compared).
