Wireless NIC recommendations?

I'm looking for a PCI wireless NIC that works with Linux "out of the box" (i.e., without having to install ndiswrapper or download an opaque binary driver).

What have people had good luck with?

I've gotten a few wireless cards working and a wireless USB network card working but I had to use ndiswrapper. I can supply you with the make/model if you're interested and how to get them working with ndiswrapper. Not sure why you're not wanting to use ndiswrapper but it's fairly easy to install the cards with.

I've got 2 wireless pcmcia cards working with Slackware - both Belkin 7010's, a newer one using the rt2500 chipset which needed the ralink driver downloading & installing, the other had the Broadcom 4306 chipset and needed ndiswrapper installing.

From memory, the one with the rt2500 chipset was detected & worked straight off when I tried kubuntu.

I suppose the first question is which distro do you use, of plan to use. Some may work with one distro out the box and another one with a different distro.
