Wireless mouse not working right.

Hi, I am new to linux, and just installed Slackware 9.1 the other day. I have the Logitech cordless MX Duo keyboard and mouse. The mouse was working just fine, and I shut down the machine for the night. However. when I logged in this morning, and try to move the mouse, it will only move up and down, even when you try and move it left and right. I do not have a spare mouse, and any suggestions for fixing this would be appreciated greatly.

I have the same keyboard and mouse, here is the pointer section from my XF86Config,
Code:
    Identifier	"Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    Option "Buttons" "7"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
    Option "Resolution" "256"

Compare it with what you have.

you are going to want to restart the computer and run it in text mode. hopefully you have no problems getting to that point. now what i believe Aussie is suggesting is actually opening up your XF86Config and comparing the two. The only section that you will need to compare is your mouse section. Any differences between the two sections and make the necessary file changes to your XF86Config. I will try to do my best to lead you through this step by step.

Not being familar with slackware so I am kinda guessing at this part but on reboot there should be a keyboard command to get it into text mode. Possibly ctrl-x.

Login as user.

Now type 'su'. It will prompt for password. This is root login

now type 'vi /etc/X11/XF86Config' this will load the XF86Config in a text editor.

now scroll down the file using j, scroll up using k, left h, right l. i will insert text, esc will get you out of insert mode and x will delete text. then when you are done editing the file :x<RETURN> will save and exit

then all that you should have to do is reboot the computer and your mouse should work.

I am not too familar with vi, so if i made any mistakes sorry. I hope this helps.
