Wireless Driver Issues
 

I am not very familiar with vocabulary regarding hardware, particularly that which applies to any sort of networking. Nonetheless I shall attempt to explain my current problem.

I am currently using a Dell Latitude E6400 and attempting to get internet usage while under linux. I had complete out-of-the-box success with Ubuntu 8.10 but was tired of being stranded in a version that was out of date before I installed it. for whatever reason I am trying Fedora and would like to get the wireless working.

I have the drivers necessary and the kernel development package but still cannot compile the driver due to a bad link at /lib/modules/<release>/build //release = 2.6.33.3-85.fc13.x86_64 for what its worth

build links to a non existent dir named after the above. After using ls at /usr/src/kernels, where the link leads. Only a folder named 2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64

I do not know what to do beyond this point. I am not familiar with the process of installing drivers yet alone compiling them. any help would be appreciated.

I dug this up for another member running FC11, these repos are good for FC13 as well, I'd start here. They'll install the RPM Fusion non-free repos and install broadcom kernel module and drivers. I'm not sure how good yum is at solving it's own dependency issues but you SHOULD be good. I'd undo anything you've already done to get it working b4 this. post your outcome.

I have installed the rpm-fusion packages you linked to but do not know what you intended for me to do with them. I am not sure what yum is but have heard of it. from what I gather it is an updater of sorts. I will try to compile the drivers again though I don't know if that would have any different effect than before.

Just to clarify I have no way of connecting to the internet under Linux.

Sorry for the 4 day delay, I did not have access to the internet during that time, due to travel.

same errors as before with regards to compilation. and If the packages were supposed to install the ready-functioning drivers the effect has failed to manifest.

because the nature of the problem has changed and I have been abandoned I will create a new thread regarding yum repolist failures etc
