Wireless connection problem: NETGEAR MA401RA pcmcia

Hello,
I just installed FC5(Fedora Core 5) on my old Fujitsu Lifebook. Everything is running great. At home the Netgear nic card recognizes my network, but when I try to connect at work, it fails. I entered in the ssid and the password and it still fails. I tried entering in the hexidecimal version of the password and now the system > networking gui won't load. Throws an exception error. Not sure what's going on. Can anyone help.

Thanks,
~rob

i'm still a bit of a noob to linux, so i get confused with all the suggested plug ins or modules to enhance linux.

if you could post a link or a proper tutorial link...that would be awesome.

thanks for replying.

http://wifi-radar.systemimager.org/

The insallation and operation of wifi-radar is quite easy. Particularly if you intend using dhcp for your connections.

You could try installing the suse rpm and see how it goes. Otherwise do a google search for your distro. Someone may have a package for Fedora.

I am in the process of switching over to linux from windows (Still a linux newb). I just bought a netgear WC311 wirless pci card. Used ndiswrapper around the windows xp drivers from the disk, not very reliable. Having trouble with the linux box forwarding requests from my windows machines. Also having trouble connecting to the wireless network. It will work and then stop working, has currently stopped working. Debian 2.6.6.8. Gonna check synaptic for wifi-radar.
