Wireless Card - Please Help!!!
 

I recently installd Redhat 9.0 on my laptop. And I cant figure out what to do to make my Netgear wireless card work, can someone please help??

Hmmm....

Does the o/s see the card? I assume that it is a PCMCIA card and not a USB device?

Are other cards recognised in the slots? (Is it a problem with the card or a more fundamental PCMCIA bridge issue.)

I have had problems with RedHat and PCMCIA which were completely sorted by using Card Services for Linux. Take a look at;

Most importantly, which NetGear card? The kernel, by default, only supports about 6 wireless chipsets, but there are plenty of other drivers available. What's the output of:

/sbin/cardctl ident

Best to reply with your card type as well from the cardctl command, you probably have quite different netgear cards, last I checked they sold about six chipsets spread over twelve or so models.

What kind of Netgear card? I have a Netgear MA401 PC card that works quite well on Slackware with the hostap_cs kernel module. RedHat is quite different from Slackware, but if you use the same card then you should be able to compile and install that module to at least get kernel support for your card.
