Question Wired to Wireless back to Wired

I need a wireless ethernet hub to span a big area on property to another building. Then in that building I need wireless receiver that re-convertes into a wired network. So I need:

Wired->WireLess->Wired

What hardware should I get? I already have linksys wired routers for both sides. But I need to buy something wireless to span the peice of land (about 100 feet). Help!

This is what I am looking at, I just don't understand the difference between the two:

(1): http://www.superwarehouse.com/Linksy...FW11S4/p/46461
(2): http://www.superwarehouse.com/Linksy.../WAP11/p/44847

Please note: I could use regular CAT5 cable, but it would be very difficult. If that is my only option, do you know any good place to buy it cheap? If I was to go with this option, I'd need about 500' CAT5 cable.

How far apart are the buildings? Wouldn't it be possible to use external directional antennas on each of the wireless hubs? Like so:

BLDG 1 BLDG 2
LAN --- HUB ---| <-- external directional antennas --> |--- HUB --- LAN

Check out this link:

http://www.practicallynetworked.com/review.asp?pid=586

Its a "cantenna" -- a can antenna based on the pringles can Wi-Fi antenna.

I wouldn't go with the Linksys BEF series routers/APs. I recommend the Linksys WRT54G or the WRT54GS. The reason I recommend these is because of the modded firmware available for the broadcom chips in them. There is a compay named Sveasoft that is creating great firmware called Satori. Their forums are here: Sveasoft. The firmware gives you the ability to adjust the power going to the antennas from 24mw to 89mw if I remember correctly which will also extend the signal quite a bit.

Another thing I suggest is going to this site http://www.freeantennas.com/ and check out the parabolic reflector template antenna. I use 2 on my WRT54GS and it boosts my signal str by a lot. My neighbor 4 houses down can connect to my router which is much more than 100ft.

I hope that helps. Good luck.

Forget about wireless because ethernet can travel up to 100 meters or 328 feet. You can dig a trench and put the wire in it. You might want to use PVC pipe or something to replace the cable for future expansion.

If you still want to use wireless, look for bridges. I do not know why people suggest wireless routers because you already have routers. You just need a wired to wireless bridge. Then you need to get a directional antenna to direct it to the building.
