Wired PS3 Controller certain buttons nonfunctional Ubuntu 13.04

Very close to using this old wired PS3 controller as a PC controller. I used the command
Code:

sudo apt-get install libusb-dev libusb-0.1-4 xserver-xorg-input-joystick
And it now works flawlessly (aside from a little joystick making the mouse go nuts, pluging it in again fixes that) EXCEPT the X, Square, and Circle buttons. Everything else, including triangle, PS button and the sticks works.

Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring)

I do not believe it is the controller itself, as all works well on another (windows) computer I tested it on.

I have now tested it with jscalibrator, and there seems to be activity (on the little diagnostic graph in the corner) when I press the buttons but it doesn't register the button presses, and says it has only 13 (when it should have 16 not including the PS button)

Edit 2: jstest reads the buttons too.

Is there any kind of button/trigger limit that may bein effect? Could I remap the buttons in a program since it is clearly recieving the signals when I press the buttons? Just trying to give ideas.
