hi welcome to LQ

you dont say what area your from the reason i ask is your scanning in ntsc but if your in uk or eu then you need to be in pal

i did find an eaSY way with a win nova usb stick on ubuntu 9.10 on the synaptic i downloaded me tv and then went google for w-scan which covers most countries and masts because you need to know your local mast ie belmont or west ridge etc with those 2 packages i was up and running freeview dvbt in 10 mins good luck

For the record, I have been struggling with this card for a month to get it and mythtv playing livetv from analog NTSC cable (Canada). No luck yet, and it seems to be a timeout issue.

What does work...
tvtime and analog NTSC cable with this command:
# tvtime | arecord -D hw:1,0 -r 32000 -c 2 -f S16_LE | aplay -

If anyone out there is having ANY luck with Mythtv and NTSC cable please post!!!!!

"Brendan.

Sorry it took do long to get back to you (1 week). Yes I just got the hvr-950q completely working again yesterday with tvtime and MythTV, after trying the new Ubuntu 11.10 beta and going back to 11.04 after too much aggravation. Your request prompted me to start a website (my first attempt ever !) www.ubuntubut.com Do me the favor of visiting it where I put my notes of how to install the hvr-950q using MythTV, and a lot more. I have google tracking and I would love to see more visitors.

I got it working YEAH!

Feel free to advise me of how to make it better or how it worked well for you. I hope it helps.

Try putting something on your website? A blank white page is quite useless. Tried it in both Firefox and IE9. I have a hvr-950q and I was hoping your page would give me some insights.
