Wine errors

OK, whenever I try to run a Windoze program using wine, i get this error:

Code:
Could not stat /home/john/.wine/${HOME} (No such file or directory), ignoring drive Y:

err:wave:OSS_WaveOutInit /dev/mixer1: No such file or directory
Segmentation fault
And then it exits without running the program. Is there any way to fix this??

VITAL INFO:

DISTRO: MDK 9.1
SOUND CARD: SOUND BLASTER 128 PCI (OSS ES1371)
WINE VERSION: LATEST
OTHER: SOUND WORKS IN KDE WINDOW MANAGER AND OTHER PROGRAMS

It looks as though you don't have that directory.

Go to Franks Corner and download winetools. Running that will help you sort out your fake Windows drives.

Why would it be looking for that directory in the first place?? I haven't told it to!!

I thought it was a device.

K I fixed the first two errors (the sound one and the drive Y: one), but I still get a segmentation fault.

Is it listed in the Wine HQ Apps database? If not, there's no guarantee that it'll work.

Do know if it's a dll fault? The last 2 programs I installed both needed DCOM95/98 installing a number of dlls.

What does Quickverse do?

I wouldn't know how to check if it is a dll's fault.

Quickverse is a bible program. I have four different bibles that I can use. It has an MDI interface, if that helps.

There are bible readers in Linux. Are there particular features in Quickverse that you need? Have a look at Freshmeat and Sourceforge to see if anything matches your needs.

I recently had a go at installing Debian and saw a number of different versions of the bible - not sure if there were different readers or 1 reader with many bibles.
