wine causing CD eject problems

After trying to install Diablo:LoD using Wine on my Fedora 2 box, the cd becomes stuck. The light on the panel stops blinking, I can't eject using the button on the drive. I run the command eject, and it says it's busy. I have killed wine, winserver and the program that was running. do a umount -l and nothing happens. I do umount -f, and it says the drive is no longer mounted. I do an eject again and nothing happens. I did an hdparm -w, it says it rebooted. I was able to mount again, and get a list of files, but then when I ejected it became busy again. Do I have any recourse than to reboot? Was there anything better I could have done to get the CD back? Is there any way to prevent this in the future?

find out what the device address is e.g. /dev/cd-rom, then do umount /dev/cd-rom and it'll unmount the disc (which should let you eject it).

when I do that, it says that the drive is busy. eject calls umount, which returns that the cd is busy, so the eject fails.

You might want to see if theres a forum on Wine's official website (www.winehq.org), since this seems to be quite a common problem (might be in a FAQ).
