Windows as a linuxvirus!

My girlfriend have a project to write for university and her projectpartner took his windows machine with him. To share files they used a pendrive from siemens and after that the usbprinter does not work. We get "printer not accepting jobs" and i tried to restart hotplugging and the print still got the same problem. Im having mandriva 2005 and dcp-117c from brother(I hade a lot of problems setting up this printer).

Before a windows machine changed all the permissions fore the files on the pendrive so I hade to change them with rootaccess. Not so practical.

So does anyone have an idee where to start? All help is appreciated.

you could try restarting cups. i have a computer at home with one of those printer/scanner/copier jobs from hp. whenever i used it as a scanner, i had to restart cups and the printer for it to be seen as a printer instead of a scanner. Same was true when i used a pen drive or the usb camera. ( i only have one usb port )
anyway, all of it went away with ubuntu 5.10 , breezy justs handles it all without me having to do this. But it was the work-around i had to use for a while. i dont remember if i had to power cycle the printer or not.

I tried CUPS but it did not work. But I found out that the printer got dissabled so I just enabled it and now it works. Strange.
