Windows Add Printer Wizard and CUPS
Hey folks,
I'm trying to add a network printer to my Windows XP lappy using the Add Printer Wizard. I'm running Slackware 10 and CUPS on the print server and using IPP as the network protocol. Unfortunately, the Add Printer Wizard always freezes after I select a driver and only half-creates the printer. e.g., It creates "laserjet_raw on " rather than "laserjet_raw on 192.168.1.10:631". I have to kill Windows Explorer to get rid of the unpainted wizard.
Now, this used to work. I figured my (fresh) Windows installation was conking out (already), and I'd have to reinstall to add my printer. (Sigh.) However, a friend just connected their lappy to my network and experienced the exact same problem in the Add Printer Wizard. Any ideas?
Printing from any Linux PC works great -- local or remote. I tried disabling firewalls with no success. I'm using an HP LaserJet 1300 with PS drivers on Linux and PCL drivers on Windows.
Thanks in advance!
Matthew
