WInbook XL2 DVD on Redhat 8.0

Hi,

I have redhat 8.0 working fine on a 5 year old winbook XL2.

Does anyone know if I can get the DVD to function as more than just a cd player as it is now or am I wasting my time?
Also what software plays dvds in linux.

mouse works fine by the way, and have external modem. Also sound is suspiciously excellent.

Thanks

You're looking for either Mplayer or possibly Ogle, both of which rely on you having compiled libdvdcss seperately. You can probably find RPMs around on rpmfind.net

DVD decoding is pretty chip intensive, also getting all the settings right for your video card is pretty important. This can be a headache on older hardware.

Cheers,

Finegan
