win modem shud work on linux

i have a winmodem attached to my PC.
motorola SM56
is there any way that it can function on linux as well..

Go here:

and see if there is a driver for your particular Modem. As I recall there is a Linux driver for some of the SM56 modems depending on what version/model you have..
