Will the Nvidia FX5600XT work on a desktop computer?

Hey Guys.

I was going to buy a Nvidia FX5200 (128MB) from http://www.autdirect.co.uk/acatalog/

But also on there page is the Nvidia FX5600XT (256MB).

I was looking at the difference between the two graphics cards on Nvidias website, apperntly the FX5600 model is for Mac's and Laptops!

Would the FX5600 work in a standard desktop computer? It says its for AGP 8x so I think it should, and is it supported by the 2.4 kernal?

Also I've just purchesed an ASRock K7S8X motherboard and I do not know which processor to go for.

The AMD Athlon XP 2600+ or the AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Is there and major difference between the two, am I right in thinking the XP 2800+ has the barton core?

(Which core does the 2600+ have?)

Thanks Guys,
SergeantRoach

yup the Geforce FX5600 should work. To make sure just check Nvidia's linux driver docs, it's on their website. XFree86 4.3 should use the standard nv driver out of the box for that card. Also I think the AMD Athlon XP 2600+ is a barton core. check out tomshardware for more info or the AMD site.
