Question Will Sony DRU820A work in SUSE 10.1?

I'm thinking of buying a DVD burner. The Model is:

Sony DRU820A 16x DVD Burner Dual Layer and Double Layer Burning.

Does anyone know if it's compatible with SUSE 10.1 before I buy? Sony has no Linux support listed for it. Some product info:

Cache Size: 2 MB
Transfer Rate: 33MB/sec
DVD+R Write Speed: 16x
DVD-R Write Speed: 16x
DVD-RAM Write Speed: 5x
CD Write Speed: 48x
CD Rewrite Speed: 32x
Interface Type: E-IDE

Thanks in advance for any info.

Did you ever find out if it would work? It seems like this 820A replaces the 710A.

The Multi-Media Command Set-2 (MMC) specifications describe a command to help the operating system acquire information about device behavior changes. This GET EVENT STATUS NOTIFICATION command set applies to all Type 5 devices, including CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and so on, which are referred to as MMC-compliant storage devices.
