Will Adapted aaa-131 or siig ap-40 scsi work

Ok, being a newbe in Linux, I using RedHat 9.0. Works great! Want to add a HP DAT (c1533A) internal. I have 2 old scsi cards - an Adapted AAA-131 and a SIIG ap-40. Installed each and it see them but I never get anything install. Is the scsi cards bad (not usable on Linux 9.0, or did I drop a ball someware along the way ????

I have 39 year experence in computers from IBM mainframes to pc but my love is programming using the PICK relational database. Please be gentle
