Will a motherbpard change affect linux?

I am considering changing my motherboard ( asus p4g8x ) with another one. I wonder if i have problems with my new motherboard with my linux installation. I remember that when changing from via's chipset to an intel's one winxp pro gave me the blue screen of death and i had to reformat my hard drive ! Will this happen to my linux? (fedora core 2) . If i change my motherboard but with same manufacturer chipset ( eg intel ) will this niot happen?

haha windows - microsoft usually makes you buy a new license if you change anything major like the cpu or motherboard (there's way of defeating this though). 98 used to be a lot better with hardware changes like that.

i've done some pretty major hardware changes in redhat 9 and there was a nice little utility that started during the boot that autodetected everything and installed it quite easily. as long as the new motherboard is supported you should be fine. i'd imagine the hardware installer (forgot it's name) was carried over to fc, like most stuff was.

just be sure your harddrives order are like that on the old mobo, than everything should be fine. if you have a handrolled kernel you should modifie it for the new chipset.
