wifi problems with ubuntu,

Can anyone walk me thru the fix for this problem, i have broadcom 4306 card that won't pick up wireless dsl router(Linksys) being run by verizon, for my compaq 2500 presario running ubuntu, thanks in advance, i tried to follow instruct from ubuntu forum site, but they were kind of vague

you know what i had that same problem and reinstalling it fixed my problem. i do not know how much help i can be since i was a total newbie when i had it but my friend came over and he i a linux pro(otherwords working on his own distro that will be very efficient and userfriendly) and he told me to use 'modprobe ndiswrapper' on then configure it from there

I am trying ti install now, but i went to the site for the drivers, but i need help with transferring the windows file on the cd that i made into linux?, plus do i just install it on the desktop and run it after i do the ndiswrapper thing?...someone help please
