Wifi problem in ubuntu 9.04 with atheros wifi card

I have a laptop with an atheros wi fi card and ubuntu 9.04 wi fi was working until i installed mad wifi tools pakage using synaptic. After that wi fi stopped working .

I ve uninstalled madwifi tools but wifi is still not working .

What is the nature of the problem? Is your hardware detected properly? Are the correct drivers loaded (lsmod)? Are you able to see your wlan card using 'ifconfig -a' and ifconfig commands? What happens when you run iwscan? Are you using wpa? Do you have wpasupplicant running?
