wifi connection on cent os

Hello,

i am using wifi rader to connect my centos lap to my wifi network offered by the sony xperia ion portable wifi hotspot feature built in the mobile phone.

Now if i enable wifi with no security connection works charm.no need any setup in wifirader. just if i click connect it connects with auto dhcp.

but if i enable security in phone it does not. trying to obtain ip address and fails.

my portable wifi config window in phone shows this (when i enable security).
------------
Network SSID : connection1
security : WPA2 PSK
Password : 123456
--------------------

now what should i enter for the following fields in the wifi rader to make a secured connection?

KEY :

SECURITY : CAN LEAVE BLANK / OPEN / RESTRICTED

USE WAPA > DRIVER:
OR
NO WPA

i have attched an screen shot of wifi rader config window

Key is 123456
Security is Open
Use WPA-2 PSK (AES if asked about encryption type)
Driver is wpa_supplicant

Have you looked at the documentation?

OMG! I Spend 3 Hours now and still not able to connect my wifi using a secure connection.
the normal connection witout security works.

but i leant few things. specially about /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

summary so far is like this

sony experia ion LTE mobile phone wifi connection
-Network SSID : mywifi
-security : WPA2 PSK
-password : 123456

wifi rader gui settings :

-network name : mywifi
-mode : auto
-Channel : auto
-key : s:123456
-use WPA
-Driver : wpa_supplicant

/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

Quote:
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
eapol_version=2
ap_scan=1

# WPA protected network, supply your own ESSID and WPAPSK here:
network={
proto=WPA2
key_mgmt=WPA2-PSK
}
what could be wrong?

Why not just use the NetworkManager applet which handles everything, including wpa_supplicant. Using this along with NetworkManager-gnome and wireless-tools should be OK for the set up you describe.
