Wi-fi and driver manager not working Linux mint 17.2

atheros 9377 and driver manager blank. Can't find help except for ten things to do after installing Linux mint lol. Tried kernel patches windows wireless drivers and a billion other things. Up for two days straight pulling my hair out. Lenovo idea pad built for windows I think. Can anyone help. Rfkill shows both soft and hard lock off. It's not the Bluetooth blocking Wi-Fi either cause guess what? That doesn't work either. It's quite new laptop and Linux runs well on my fifteen year old desktop. There has to be a solution. I just have no energy left for trial and error messing with kernel then re-installing. If anyone has an answer I will be jumping with joy. Please help

Hi...

Welcome to the forum

That might be explain why it's not working, it's too new.

If you would, please connect the system to the internet using an ethernet cable (if it has an ethernet port) and then open a terminal and post the results of these commands...

Code:
lspci -nnk | grep -i net -A2
Code:
lsmod

I can't make any promises but I (and perhaps others) can give it a shot.

EDIT: Although I would still like to see a readout of your adapter's chip, you can try the solution I linked to below.

Regards...

Sadly, a look at the Ubuntu forum tells me that the manufacturer doesn't care about Linux so it doesn't seem to have a Linux driver yet.

Hi...

Oddly enough, Chili555 posted this solution which might solve the OP's issue.

Regards...
