My DVD-ReWritable can be used on win7,it can't be used on debian8.
No ifo when to input: dmesg | grep DVD dmesg | grep dvd |
Perhaps it's not supported by Linux or Debian.

Did you burn data to the disc under Windows then try to use the disc under Linux? If so, what Windows burning program did you use and what were it's settings, and what Linux program were you using to read/burn data?
The more information you provide, the easier it is for us to help you. |
What device are you using on the linux side? What errors do you get?
Can you create a DVD RW on your Linux box, and then read it there? I have moved allot of DVD RW around, and never encountered an issue like this. |
It's probably something like /dev/sr0 under Linux and it would help to post what happens when you open a. DVD burning program or try to open the disc in a file manager.

Here are some commands to find out if your copy of Debian can see your DVD-ROM drive. If you would, please post the results of the commands that work on your system. If you don't already have "lsscsi" installed, you can download and install the package from here. The results might help us to further pinpoint the problem. :) Regards... |
